LOCAL SCHOOLS COMMUNITY FUND

During 2019, as a school we applied to the Australian Government for the Local Schools Community Fund (the Fund). The Fund was an application-based process open to all eligible schools – government, Catholic and independent – designed to benefit students and their school community by contributing to small scale projects and their associated costs at the local school level. In late December 2019, we were notified that we had been successful in our application and would be receiving $15 000.

We have used this money, along with a very generous donation from the P&F, to create an outdoor learning space in our courtyard area that backs on to Kinder and Year 2 classrooms. Last year, our Year 2 class, in a unit of inquiry about how we organise ourselves, designed plans for this. They presented these to the P and F Association and some elements of their design suggestions have been used in the final planning of this area. We engaged the services of Utopia Landscaping to complete this project for us.

Utopia have finished this project and all in our community are enjoying the wonderful new space.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the community grant we received as well as generous contributions our wonderful P&F contributed to ensure our vision was made a reality.

Later on this year we will hold an official opening.
