Dear Friends,

Pope Francis on December 8, 2020 published an Apostolic Letter Patris corde (With a Father’s Heart), commemorating the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of St Joseph”, running from December 8, 2020 to December 8, 2021. Last Week I attended the annual diocesan Principals Conference where we spent time reflecting on the life of St Joseph and the significance he has in both Jesus' life and our own. For me personally the role of Joseph as a tender and loving father is the most significant; especially as all of the Holy Trinity staff model each day this love and the love Jesus showed us throughout His life, death and Resurrection, which we will soon celebrate at Easter.

This year we are very excited to offer the “Seasons for Growth” program in Term Two at Holy Trinity. We have four staff members who have been trained to lead the program. They are Jane Foley, Emily Capper, Brendon Pye and myself. Below is some information about the program.

What is Seasons for Growth?

Seasons for Growth is a small group change, loss and grief education program
Developed for children 6-12 years (Kinder-Year Six)
Based on a belief that change, loss and grief are part of life
Explores a range of issues associated with change and loss – what we may experience and ways we can respond and adapt

What does Seasons for Growth do?

Seasons for Growth helps children and young people to:

Learn about how the death of a loved one, parental separation/ divorce, or other significant loss event may impact on their lives
Learn the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to understand and respond well to such experiences, including:
understanding the grief process
recognising their feelings and other reactions to loss are normal
developing skills for coping, problem solving and decision making
building a peer-support network
restoring self-confidence and self-esteem.

The story of the seasons

Using the metaphor of the four seasons as a framework to explore the experience of change, loss and grief participants recognise:

no season lasts forever
each season is unique and important for our growth
each season has its own story, there are easy days and
difficult days
seasons are unpredictable
individuals experience the seasons differently
we find different ways to adapt to changes within each season
seasonal change is often silent, gradual and unseen.

A reminder also that we continue to have our school counsellor Kate Dean supporting us at Holy Trinity each week. Please let myself or your child's class teacher know if you wish to access this service. We will also continue to run the Cool Kids program later this year.

13th March- Parish Reconciliation Presentation Mass 6pm
15th March-3 /4 B Class Assembly 2:30pm (Parents of children in this class may attend, with social distancing and checking in with App in foyer)
18th March- School Photos (Catch up on the 22nd March)
19th March- Reconciliation Retreat Day
23rd March- Harmony Day
26th March- Awards Assembly, Cross Country Carnival
27th March- Sacrament of Reconciliation begins
29th March- Palm Sunday Prayer Celebration
31 March- Holy Thursday and Good Friday Prayer Celebration
1 April- Easter Sunday Easter Celebration and last day of Term 1

Please also note as previously advertised that Term 2 begins on Tuesday 20th of April- Monday the 19th of April is a staff Professional Learning day across our system.
