Welcome to Week 2
Dear Families and Carers,
On Tuesday we will celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration with our Parish school Sts Peter and Paul. Our students from Kinder to year 6 will be travelling over to Garren to celebrate Mass with Fr John, to complete activities with our buddy classes and share a delicious lunch. We are looking forward to spending the day together.
Our learners have embraced the excitement of the 2024 Olympic Games with our opening ceremony last Friday. With each class representing a country in the Olypmics we held our very own Holy Trinity torch relay and lighting of the cauldron. It was an afternoon where we came together as a community and shared the spirit of being internationally minded and embracing the diversity across our school. Each class has been sharing facts and information about their chosen country at our morning messages each day, it has been wonderful to learn about their traditions and fun facts from around the world.
NAIDOC Mass and Awards
Last Friday we attended the NAIDOC Mass at St Christophers in Manuka. The message of the 2024 NAIDOC week was 'Keep the fire burning, blak, loud and proud' and Archbishop Prowse and Selena Walker (Ngunnawal Elder) spoke of the significance of family and community in ensuring we continue on our journey of reconciliation. Congratulations to Romeo C in Year 5 who was one of the NAIDOC week award recipients receiveing an Academic Award.

2 Green Assembly
Year 2 Green presented assembly last Friday and shared their Unit of Inquiry, Where We are in Place and Time. The students confidently spoke of significant landmarks in Canberra and created costumes including a wonderful water fountain from Lake Burley Griffin, Parliament House and Telstra Tower. They shared their knowledge and understanding of different countries, the continents and the staes of Australia. The highlight was a quiz with 3 guest teachers, unfortunately Mr O'Rourke scored zero (it might have been the difficult questions).

Mitch Tambo Performance
On Monday we welcomed Mitch Tambo, proud Gamilaraay man, to perform for our students from ELC to Year 6. Mitch blends traditional Aboriginal sounds and language with contemporary beats and production. He shared his language, culture and traditions with us. The students and staff were enthusiastically singing and dancing and it was a fantastic way to begin Monday. Mitch invited our indigenous students and friends to share a yarning circle to finish his visit at Holy Trinity.
Hats are back
From August 1 our students need to be wearing their hats during break times and PE lessons. Can you please ensure your child has their hat with their name on it ready for school tomorrow. As the sun warms up and the UV rating is increasing we need to protect our skin.
Community Council Meeting
Our Community Council will be meeting on Tuesday evening next week at 7:00pm. All parents and friends of Holy Trinity are invited to join us for this meeting in the staffroom.
I hope you find time to slow down and enjoy time together as a family this weekend.
Yours in faith, hope and love
