Welcome to Week 6
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are at a wonderfully exciting time in the Holy Trinity school year with the plans for Exhbition coming to fruition, swimming lessons happening from K-5 and the sounds of Christmas Carols permeating the music room. It is also the tiring time of the year as we approach the end of Term 4. How do we manage and support our children through this energy sapping time? One critical answer is helping them get enough sleep.
Meg Durham has a great podcast and it's worth taking the time for all of us to listen to in support of our children, and our own sleep habits and sleep health. I highly recommend this to you. Meg talks with Professor Roxanne Prichard about
- How good sleep affects our brain function, energy, immunity and wellbeing.
- The serious detrimental effects that poor sleep can have on our bodies, leaving us more prone to anxiety and depression disorders.
- What we can do to listen to our bodies and improve our sleep habits and health
Global Schools Partners
This week we welcomed Simon Carroll from Global Schools Partners who shared with the children about our sister school in Kenya, Evaland Hekima. Simon shared photos of the school and how they now have shutters on their windows to keep the rain and wind out, but how then it can be difficult to see because they have no electricity. It was a great opportunity for us to reflect and be grateful for everything we have in our lives. We had a letter from Eden and Faith the students we sponsor thanking us for their opportunities to learn. We were very happy to hand over $3000.00 to Simon which we have raised across 2024.
Colour Run Fun!
What fabulous afternoon we had last Friday with our learners from ELC to Year 6 participating in the Colour Run. This event was hosted by our Community Council volunteers and our Year 4 teachers and students who supported with the planning and organisation on the day as part of their Who We Are Inquiry. With obstacles of hay, hoops and ladders the students ran and laughed being painted in colour from enthusiastic helpers! It was amazing to see all our helpers who were very happy to end up painted from head to toe, giving up their time to join us for this event. A special thank you to all the volunteers and to Cath Day and Sarah Hassan for their coordination of this fundraiser.

Fete News
Our Fete preparations for March 2025 are well underway. We will be celebrating the diversity in our communinty at the Multi Cultural Fete and invite members of the community to let us know how we can represent their cultures. This may be through a food/drink stall, entertainment such as dancing or singing or through the arts. Please contact us to let us know your ideas or a group we can invite to the event.
We are also calling for stall coordinators, these parents will lead the organisation of a particular stall but will be ably assisted by classes or year groups, teachers and the Fete Committee. As a stall coordinator this is a great opportunity to connect with your child's class/year group.
We are reaching out to businesses who are able to provide sponsorship or prizes for the raffle and chocolate wheel.
If you are keen to get involved, have any ideas or contacts please reach out prue.sheargold@cg.catholic.edu.au
On Monday we will begin our Advent preparations at school with Year 4 presenting the first Week of Advent Liturgy at 9.15am.
Enjoy your weekend and may you find time to slow down and reap the benefits of some quality sleep.
