Athletics Carnival
Our annual athletics carnival was rescheduled this week to Friday 31 May. Thank you to all the parents who have kindly offered their time with the running of the events. As the carnival was moved I am again in need of more volunteers. If you are able to assist during the day could you please get in contact with Mr Feerick as soon as possible.
During the carnival the students from Years 2-6 will participate in a rotation of track and field events. Age champions from each gender in this group will receive ribbons early next week after the carnival. There is an emphasis on participation through all events and giving every event a go. Kinder and Year 1 will take part in series of novelty events and track events. ELC is planned to join the carnival at 11am to run their races, followed by the annual 3-legged parent student races. If your child wishes to take part in the 800m events these will take part at 8.30am before school. You are able to drop off your child/ren directly to Curtin Oval for this event and the teachers will return your child/ren to school after these events.
As we have received rain earlier during the week, the students have been requested to bring tarp or a picnic rug to sit to use during the day. Please ensure they wear warm clothing as the weather forecast is for a cool start and may take a while to warm up. The students are encouraged to wear their house colours but runners will be required as it is a sports carnival.
South Weston Cross Country
On Monday 3 June a number of students from our school will represent our school at the South Weston Cross Country Carnival at Stromlo Park. Permission notes were emailed last week and payment is required via QKR. We wish all these athletes the best of luck!
Walk to School Week
This was a huge success with a large number of students taking steps towards a healthy lifestyle. On Friday morning the students celebrated the week with a range of activities on offer as they arrived to school and some lucky students took home prizes from the raffle draw. Thank you once again for getting behind this great initiative promoting safety in the community and ways to stay active.
