Lord God, we begin this day with great trust in your providential care, knowing
that in your abundant love, you continue to fill our cup to overflowing. We ask
you to open our hearts to the renewing action of your Holy Spirit. Strengthen
the gift of faith you gave us by our Baptism into the death and resurrection of
Jesus, your Son, that we might be his loving witnesses in all that we are and do.
We make this prayer to you through this same Jesus, who lives and reigns with
you in the unity of the Holy Spirit; one God forever and ever. Amen.
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Term 3!
I hope amidst travelling and health concerns in differing states, that you were still able to have opportunity to rest and relax over the last couple of weeks. It is wonderful to have all our students back, and everyone has settled in well to the new term. This term we welcome some new and returning families to our community- Miles Burke (3 /4 G), Hugo Cadona (KW) , Maggie (KG) and Alexander Spence (3 /4 R).
As you are all aware, we are unable to move to Stage 3 level of COVID-19 restrictions as hoped at the end of Term 2. The following attachments clearly outlines what the current Stage 2 restrictions look like for our school:
After consulting with staff and CE, we would like to continue the following to ensure our community stays safe:
- drop off and pick up will continue with parent in cars (unless there is a need to pick up from the tennis courts, socially distancing please)
- School morning assembly will continue in classrooms, with announcements over the PA
- overnight excursions remain cancelled. Day excursions off site can occur, but cannot exceed 100 people (including adults)
- onsite, student-only fund-raising (this will be applicable this term to fund raise for our Global Schools Partners commitment)
- Class assemblies and Masses will resume, without parents and carers present. Class assemblies will be recorded and sent to each family.
- School Banking will continue to be postponed
- After school activities can continue on site, with COVID-19 safety measures applied- parents picking up from these activities will still need to do so from the ring road or carpark only.
A big thank you to Andrew Peerboom, one of our School Board members, who organised the signage in our new carpark area- your help and generosity with this is much appreciated.
A few reminders as we begin the term:
- Our school day has resumed to 3:10pm finish. In the mornings it is essential that students arrive before 9am, ready to start the day. Any student arriving after 9:10am, must be signed in at the front office by their parents. As our rolls are legal documents, student absentees must be justified with a note, email or the absentee note function on our Schoolzine App. Every minute counts- please ensure our students are arriving at school in time for 9am start each day.

- Please remember to exercise care when picking up in the afternoons, especially with the ring road section. Last term, we had parents blocking the day care and nursing home entrances along Theodore St and double parking. Parking right at the top of the ring road causes a line of sight issue when trying to come out of the ring road. When traffic is very heavy, turning left is much easier please.
- Winter uniforms for Term 3- we are seeing some interesting variations and additions that are not a part of the policy such as nail polish, differing coloured clothing- we do not need to wear hats at the moment, however beanies should be in the navy colour. Please refer to our uniform policy if further clarification is needed.
Some food for thought as I finish the opening message today, inspired by a book I am currently reading titled "Limitless Mind", by Jo Boaler:
A person who never made a mistake never tried something new.
It's not that I am smart, it is just that I stay with problems longer.
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.
In the midst of difficulty lies opportunity
(Albert Einstein)
I hope in the midst of any difficulty you may be experiencing at the moment, you may also find some worthwhile opportunities.
May you enjoy a lovely weekend with your family and friends; take care of yourselves and others and thank you, yet again, for your constant support of our community,
Philippa
