Welcome Back!
A very warm welcome back to all of our students this week, it is so wonderful to be together again, we have missed you all very much. Our kinder students made welcome back hugs, which have been hung around the school to welcome everyone back!
Easter Raffle
Tomorrow we will have our annual Easter Egg Raffle! As we were not able to fundraise for the raffle this year, each student from the ELC to Year 6 has been entered into the draw. We have over 20 prizes to be won. Thank you to our Year 3/4 families for donating the eggs!
First place this year will also win a subscription for an Entertainment Book, which has been kindly donated by Jo Hamilton. Thank you!
The draw will be videoed live to all students tomorrow afternoon. We will post the winners next week!
Religious Education Website - Transfiguration Parish
Although we are no longer Remote Learning, the “Parish of Transfiguration” website is still being updated weekly and features the Sunday Gospel of the coming week, as well as reflection questions, and other resources and ideas for families who want to grow in faith together. This week, we look at the practice of Lectio Divina, and how this can be done with kids. We hope the site will be engaging and enriching for the families in our communities of Holy Trinity and Saints Peter and Paul.
Fr John has uploaded a video for our families, and the Parish Youth Ministers, Maddie and Grace have added content to the site also, so I encourage you to take a look.
Below is a link to the site for this week.

Our Youth Ministers have also created a Facebook page. Please check it out and 'like' it to support young people in our Parish ( @NorthWodenParishTrasfiguaration ).

Talking about consent with children.
Parents and carers play an essential role in shaping their children’s understanding of consent. Research shows that conversations about consent at early ages impacts the skills and behaviour children need as they grow up. This weeks reading from Happy Families discusses different aspects of consent we can be talking to our children about from an early age.
Peace be With You: Consider the deep peace of Christ. The shalom of God in Hebrew means more than freedom from anxiety. Shalom is the fullness of God's blessings, joy and satisfaction, a life without need. To have the peace of Christ is to have it all. Nothing interrupts this abundance. Let us prayer for this peace of Christ in our daily lives as we consider the strength of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and beyond.
Dear Families,
This week has seen, once again, great events celebrated in our community. On Tuesday night our PYP coordinators shared with parents elements of the Primary Years Program offered at Holy Trinity. This was a very informative and useful night for all present- parents were given opportunity to ask questions about the IB framework and also gained more insight into the learning opportunities and strategies offered at Holy Trinity from the ELC through to Year 6. More about this evening will be shared with you in next week's newsletter. We will also be offering another PYP night next term, focussing on the inquiry approach, that I encourage you to attend. Yesterday we also joined together for our Athletics Carnival . Thank you to all families who were able to come and help out during the day, and to Michael Feerick and our Sports Committee who organised such a great event for our students.
This term we are going to repeat the process we began last year with Semester 1 reporting and interviews. In many of past surveys, parents have commented that our written reports do not have the information they would like to see in a school report. (Please note: This is a system report that we are mandated to complete.) This frustration is also shared by our staff, as we would like to be able to write a more specific report on our Primary Years Program. Thus our reports will include the two units of inquiry taught throughout Semester One. To give our teachers time to thoroughly assess our students in these units we will again have parent teacher interviews before the written 1/2 yearly report goes home in Week 10. The interviews and/or three-way conferences (Year 3-6) will take place in Week 8; booking for these interviews will be as for the Term 1 Parent Partnership Meetings, with the online booking service through our new school App commencing soon.
A couple of important reminders:
- As we are at the end of Week 4, all students should now be in full winter uniform. We are seeing a variety of combinations- please ensure your child/ren are coming to school in winter uniforms. There are also many jumpers and other items of school clothing in our lost property, located outside my office. Many of these were found after the Athletics Carnival.
- Concerns have been raised again about the safety of children being dropped off and picked up after school. I know many families access the school from the back of the presbytery or shops. Can I please ask that children and families do not walk through the presbytery area, especially with the steps there, when coming to drop or pick up children at Holy Trinity school. Please use the path around the church, rather than cutting through the presbytery house.
And finally a thought for the week:

With every best wish for a holy and peace-filled long weekend with your beautiful families,

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity (Trinity Sunday)
Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost. The Sundays marks the end of the Easter Season, 50days after the Resurrection. As we come to the end of this Season we move into Ordinary time, commemorated by The Feast of the Holy Trinity.
The Trinity could be termed by some as a complex mystery, never fully understood, yet believed. Below is part of Pope Benedicts XVI's reflection:
Today the Liturgy celebrates the solemnity of The Most Holy Trinity Sunday, to emphasize that in the light of the paschal mystery the center of the cosmos and of history is fully revealed: God himself, eternal and infinite Love. This is the word that summarizes the whole of revelation: "God is love" (1 John 4:8,16). And love is always a mystery, a reality that surpasses reason without contradicting it; what is more, it exalts its potentialities.
We summarizes the truth about God with this expression: only one substance in three persons.
Without Christ, we could never know God as Trinity, which is to say, we could never know God as love (cf. 1 John 4:16).

Well done to all the students for their enthusiasm they displayed throughout the day. It was a great to see so many students and parents arrive at the track before school for the 800m events. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came to assist throughout the day. Thanks also to all the wonderful teachers for all their assistance with the preparations and, throughout the day. This year we had a coffee cart arrive during the morning which was well received by teachers and parents alike. Winners for the field events, 800m races and age champions, Spirit Cup and Championship Shield will be announced during an assembly on Thursday afternoon. Below are a few photos from the carnival.

Year 5/6 Community Input RE: Curtin Master Plan
On Wednesday 16th May, Year 5/6 were involved in an interactive session with two Curtin Planners from Housing Choice Collaboration Hub focussed on gatheirng their opinion as they work towards finalising the Curtin Group Centre Master Plan. As many of our students frequent the centre (and their parents), it was a fantastic opportunity for them to have their say on the final outcome.

The faciliatiors, Matt and Ben commented on how impressed they both were with our Year 5 and 6 students' ability to focus on the task at hand, their attention to detail and their thoughtful and creative ideas. "It was so important that we captured their views and they were forth coming with them – great for the project. We visit many schools across the ACT and rarely have the pleasure (especially at the end of the day) to experience the exemplary behaviour shown by your students – 5 gold stars from Ben and I".
