Reading from St Paul to the Colossians (Col 3:12-15)
As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.
Dear Friends,
The photos above are of some of our Students from Year 3 who have celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist in the January break. At the end of this month, the rest of our Eucharist candidates will celebrate together at a special Mass in the Parish. Week 2 began with the Reconciliation Parent Information night and the Gospel above, was the prayer presented to open the meeting. Tracey will refer more about this in the RE News below. We continue to keep all our students and families celebrating Sacraments this Term in our prayers.
Communication
Tonight is a great opportunity to further establish lines of communication with our families at the Parent Information Night. All families will have received the MS Teams link for this meeting from individual grade teachers. Families with more than one child will be able to view the other sessions at a later date, as all grade meetings tonight will be recorded and link sent. Please note that all communication notices, daily or weekly, are sent through COMPASS. It is essential that all families are effectively using this App/website for attendance notifications and to access all our communication.
Parent Partnership Meetings
Parent Partnership Meetings are an opportunity for parents/carers to share your knowledge of your child and some hopes and aspirations for them in 2022. It is also an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s classroom teacher and begin a dialogue that will continue throughout the year. We believe that Parent Partnership Meetings will ensure the best possible start to the year and establish strong school/home partnerships.
The 10 minutes sessions will be available next week, between Monday 14th – Thursday 17th February and are for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Prior to this meeting, we ask that families complete the
Parent Partnership Form and return it to your child's teacher. This form will assist to direct the conversation.
Parent Partnership Meetings will be held via MS Teams. Once you have booked a time, your child's classroom teacher will forward you a link/calendar invite to the Parent Partnership Meetings. In COMPASS PORTAL you have access to Parent Student Teacher Conference Booking System. This is where you will book your partnership meeting.
The portal will close on Friday 11th February 2022 at 4pm.
Reconciliation Action Plan and Committee 2022
We continue in 2022 to have a committee of dedicated staff and parents meeting regularly to ensure our Reconciliation Action Plan is acknowledged and enacted throughout out school community.
Our vision for reconciliation begins with our active acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners Custodians of Lands across Australia, and our recognition that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritages continue to shape the cultural heritage of all Australians. Our commitment to reconciliation mirrors our values of:
- upholding the equality, equity, dignity and worth of each person
- nurturing personal growth, self-esteem, resilience and well being
- valuing diversity through empathy, understanding and the appreciation of others
- building strong partnerships, inclusive of all in our community
- strengthening global perspectives and active stewardship
- maintaining mutual respect in relationships, and promoting peace and justice.
Our vision is that of a nation that acknowledges and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this Land. This is an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians have shared understanding and mutual respect for each other’s cultures and enjoy equal and equitable opportunities for participation in our community.
The 2022 Holy Trinity Reconciliation Action Plan can be viewed on our website or by clicking here.
COVID Update
Below are some educational links your child/ren can access during the isolation period.
Holy Trinity Face book Page
A reminder to families that we have a school FB page that went live at the end of last year. Communication forms to go home next week, give parents the opportunity to have their child/ren opt out of media platforms, and therefore they would not see their photo on our FB page. I encourage families to like our page and have a look at all the incredible learning that is happening in our school. This week you will notice a fabulous post about out Year 6 leadership day held on Wednesday with staff (via Teams) from the MOAD (Museum of Democracy at Old parliament House) Learning Centre. More about this day will be shared by our student leaders in next week's newsletter.
Please continue to keep Emily Capper in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to recover from surgery and shortly begin further treatment.
Have a wonderful weekend and a peace-filled week ahead with your beautiful families. Please do not hesitate to reach out for anything at all and continue to stay safe.
