Dear families and carers,
As report cards are sent home next week, it's a great time to reflect not only on academic outcomes but also on the progress and growth that our learners have made throughout this year. As an IB PYP school, we emphasise the importance of focusing on students’ development as lifelong learners, and on growth, it's important to understand that success is measured not just by final results but by the progress made along the way. The PYP encourages us to celebrate not just the destination but the progress students make toward their goals.
At the heart of the PYP is the belief that learning is a dynamic, collaborative, and reflective process. Our curriculum is designed to develop students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes, and we assess progress in a holistic way. Our teachers have been preparing written reports with comments to share with our families that demonstrate each learners growth throughout the second semester. Families will receive a COMPASS message when the reports are available.
Exhibition
Our Year 6 learners truly excelled in their Exhibition last Thursday and Friday, demonstrating passion, creativity, and commitment to their chosen inquiry. Their projects were presented through a combination of written reports, visual and interactive displays, mixed media and compelling artistic presentations. The performance revealing the concept of 'influence' was uplifting. What was most inspiring was not just the depth of their research, but the thoughtful, knowledgeable and confident way they engaged with their peers, teachers, and families.
Thanksgiving Mass
It was an honour to thank our volunteers that have supported our teachers and students throughout 2024 at Mass on Monday. We also bid farewell to our families and students that are ending their time at Holy Trinity, sending them off with a big hug from their Holy Trinity family. It is with sadness that we also farewell some of our amaxing teachering staff.
- Trina Twyford
Taking a well-deserved 12-month leave in 2024, Trina has tested the waters down the coast and decided to make it her new home. While we will miss our lively Irish pocket rocket, Trina is excited to continue visiting us for relief teaching during 2025. We wish her all the best as she settles into her new chapter in Bega and look forward to her return to Holy Trinity for relief.
- Jenny Groom
It has been a pleasure to work alongside Jenny for many years, and we are incredibly fortunate to have had her musical expertise at Holy Trinity. Jenny’s willingness to jump in and help wherever needed, along with her deep connection to Fred Ward Gardens, has made a lasting impact on our community. We will miss you, Jenny, and hope you find time to relax and reflect on your remarkable career, knowing how many lives you’ve touched with the gift of music.
- Janice McDevitt
Janice has done an outstanding job leading our Classroom Support team throughout 2024. Her dedication to supporting both teachers and learners has been a true asset to our school. Having started with us in our Kindergarten team, Janice laid a strong foundation for our youngest learners while also sharing her PYP expertise with our staff. We wish Janice all the best as she transitions to a new school closer to home, where she can spend more time with her boys.
- Lisa B-W
Lisa is embarking on a sea change, moving closer to a beautiful beach in Sydney for the next 12 months. We will deeply miss her wisdom, experience, and the mentorship she has provided to our Early Career teachers. Lisa has been a wonderful advocate for both our teachers and students, and while we are sad to see her go, we hope her time by the sea brings her much joy and peace. We look forward to her return in 2025.
ELC- Year 6 Holy Trinity Carols
The Holy Trinity Carols and Picnic will go ahead tomorrow evening (Friday December 6) regardless of the weather. If the weather is rainy we will move the singing into the hall and bring our year levels in to sing. Fingers crossed for a dry afternoon tomorrow! Students can wear any Christmas clothing or accessories.
Carols on the Block
Carols on the block has been moved to the inside venue at Holy Trinity on Saturday evening, December 7. All are welcome to join at 6.45pm and our school choir will be singing. Thanks to jenny Groom for her participation in this community event. This is the 27th year of the Carols organised by the Catholic, Anglican and Uniting Churches of Curtin.
I know many students are getting excited to meet their teacher for 2025. We will be having our One Up Afternoon on Tuesday next week. I am sure your child will come home bursting with excitement to share their news of their new teacher. Our teachers spend a great deal of time preparing class cohorts and there are many considerations to class placements. During this time it is important to celebrate this excitement with our students and foster a growth mindset about the new beginning in 2025.
Just a reminder that our Fun Day will be held on the last of term in Week 10, Monday December 16. A COMPASS note will be sent home early next week.
Next week we will be celebrating our Year 6 Assembly on Monday at 2pm, Year 6 Graduation on Wednesday at 12pm, our Year 5 Leadership Initiative on Friday at 12pm and having our final Awards Assembly on Friday at 2.30pm.
Tomorrow morning we look forward to our Kindergarten learners sharing the Nativity story at 9.15am in the Hall.
We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night for an evening of Christmas Cheer!
