Jesus never wants us to be distracted from our primary purpose: to love God, ourselves, our families and our neighbours. Our mission is to listen to the word of God, to hear it deeply in our being, and to act on it. The word of God is love. Love is many things- it is spending time with friends and family, helping the poor and lonely, sharing our plenty when we feel like holding on.
Lord, I am grateful for your word of love, healing and compassion. Help me to hear your word and act on it in my daily life. Amen.
Dear Friends,
I hope you have all had a wonderful break, spending precious time with your families and friends- it has been lovely returning, seeing many children so excited to be back and ready for learning! The reflection above reminded me of all the wonderful ways I see faith hope and, most importantly, love being exemplified in the actions of our Holy Trinity community- this was especially evident last term with the fund raising for our GSP school, Evaland Hekima. This afternoon, we will be visited by the ABC, who will be filming a story about Global School Partners and using our school as a case study- please look out for wonderful this story coming soon!
Thank you to those parents, particularly on the School Board, that gave feedback to the draft Uniform Policy shared last term. Please click on the link below to our website to read the finalised policy:
Holy Trinity School Uniform Policy
This uniform policy will be implemented from tomorrow. Please note that there is a transition period of 6 months for those families needing to purchase items e.g. navy parka. A big thank you once again, to Maria Gagetti who has been the graphic designer, publishing all our existing and updated policies.
Our annual Report for 2018 has also been added to our website in the policy section. Please click the link below if you would like to view this:
2018 Holy Trinity Annual Report

There are also quite a few classes presenting prayer or class assemblies on Mondays, and other important class events, such as excursions, and visits to Fred Ward Gardens, that individual class groups will be notified of. some of these are also listed on the school calendar.
In the holidays the potholes around the car park have been filled- I am sure you have already noticed and welcome this work completed. An additional disabled car park is being painted soon out the front of the school on the ring road. A reminder again please not to park in this allocated area as we have families needing to access the ramp and close proximity to the school.
Pleas keep the Graham family (Jessica 5 /6 and Matthew Year 2) in your thoughts and prayers as their grandfather passed away during the holidays.
With every best wish for a holy and peace-filled week ahead with your beautiful families,
Philippa

Hats Hats Hats
The Sun Smart recommendations are for hats and sunscreen to be worn between the months of August and May. From next week children will need to have hats at school each day. Please label.
Stay and Play
Playgroup for pre-preschoolers and their families. Wednesday mornings from 9am-10.30am in the ELC Playground (weather permitting). Parents, grandparents, carers and children are all very welcome.
NAIDOC week Celebrations at Holy Trinity took place in Week 10 of Term 2.
It was a great celebration of Aboriginal culture, traditions and sport.
We begun the week with a liturgy to focus our thoughts on the importance of NAIDOC Week.
We then had a guest storyteller - Larry B, he shared amazing stories and artifacts with us about Aboriginal life in the past. The children loved the costumes, props, face paint and weapons Larry brought along.
We finished up with a day celebrating Aboriginal culture. We broke in to vertical groups from K-6 and completed a session on Aboriginal art and craft. We then had another session on Aboriginal sporting games from the Yulanga Traditional Aboriginal Games resource.

Big fun was had by all.
LEADERSHIP COMMUNITIES - SUSTAINABLITY
Waste Audit!
The Sustainability team is concerned about the amount of waste being put in the wrong bin at Holy Trinity. Next Wednesday the 31st of July, Lis from ACT Smart Schools will be joining us to do a waste audit. We will be emptying our bins and sorting the rubbish into the correct bin. This will show us what our main issues are with waste at Holy Trinity. The waste audit will occur as part of Gardening Club on Wednesday at 1:40pm.
Touch Football Gala Day
Today a number of students from 3/4 represented our school at the Touch Football Gala Day. They played a number of matches and enjoyed a fun filled day. Well done to all students involved. Ms Joy and Mr Feerick enjoyed this opportunity at the Deakin playing fields.
South Weston Athletics Carnival
The South Weston Athletics Carnival is coming up, it will take place on Wednesday 21August. Students will be notified via email, if they have qualified by the end of Week 2. We are required to provide parent assistance with running of various track and field events. This is due to no longer having access to university students that have helped out in the past. If you are able to help please let Mr Feerick know.
Dance
This week students from ELC, 3/4 and 5/6 commenced their dance lessons with the talented Jan Simpson. K-2 will participate in their dance lessons from Weeks 6-10. The students have greatly enjoyed these lessons so far.

We are delighted to inform you that Holy Trinity will be participating in the world-renowned ICAS Assessments again this year. ICAS is developed by UNSW Global, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of New South Wales, with over 35 years’ experience in educational assessments. ICAS is designed to target students’ higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling and Digital Technologies. Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition. Every student will receive a certificate and an online result report. Top performers will be eligible for medals and are invited to attend special award ceremonies to have their academic excellence publicly recognised. The assessments are suitable for students wishing to extend themselves academically and take up the personal challenge of competing in an international assessment. Your child will be presented with high-quality, expert-developed questions, allowing them to apply their learning without the need for prior study or revision. ICAS Assessments are now online, a move that reflects a sector-wide transition to computer-based assessment. This allows greater accessibility for students and faster delivery of results.
* Writing is online for Years 5-6 and paper based for Years 3-4 ** Spelling and writing online is via an installed app called JANISON REPLAY which will need to be preinstalled on students own device (it does not work on ipad mini) REGISTRATION and PAYMENT New registration and payment process in 2019 - ONLINE PARENT PAYMENT To confirm your child's participation and complete payment click here. You will need to enter our schools unique code 7f957a14ac to make a direct payment to UNSW Global. You do not need student ID number to process order.
