Dear Families, welcome to Term 4 Week 3!
Coming together is a beginning.

Teacher Appreciation Day
A very huge thank you to our wonderful teachers and staff of Holy Trinity. The families in our beautiful community can’t thank you enough for looking after, caring for and teaching our children. The P&F on behalf of all our families, were pleased to provide a yummy La Cruzada lunch for the staff this week. A very small token for all the wonderful things you do for our children and our school. We just want you to know that we appreciate you and are grateful for you, so thank you.
(La Cruzada Café and Pizza is a Holy Trinity family business located at 16 Wilbow St Phillip! Thank you to Matt H (KR dad) for being our pizza delivery person).
Obstacool
Money is still trickling in, but the current total raised was over $17,000. Once the cost of the hire is taken out ($2,500) we are still looking at nearly $15,000 to go towards our Funding Priorities. What a great effort, thank you! It was a really fun day, although we would make some changes if we were to run it again. We would look at shorter allocated times, but give each student two sessions throughout the day. It was very tiring! As far as organising and running the day, it was hassle free from a parent/volunteer perspective. It did lack a little bit of a community feel that a Walkathon has, an event the entire school is participating in together at the same time. The P&F discussed at the last meeting to further consider options before deciding on a strategy for next year. Options included holding a Walkathon on alternate years with something different on every other year (Obstacool or similar).
Father’s Day breakfast and stall
So many wonderful volunteers made the day a huge success! Thank you, thank you to all families for supporting a fun day, either through cooking the BBQ, attending the BBQ, providing gifts for our children to purchase at our shopping stall, wrapping gifts, buying more gifts, or helping on the stall. It was really lovely to meet some parents that I didn’t know.
It did raise a couple of issues with the way we run our Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls though. The aim of any volunteering opportunity at our school is to make it as easy as possible, so we can attract more volunteers of course! It shouldn’t be a hassle, or a burden, or an imposition at all. I want parents to feel comfortable with helping out, knowing it’s going to be fun and enjoyable, not a drag. Also, as an overarching principle, anything we do should be fair. At the P&F meeting, we discussed maybe trying a slightly different way for the Mother’s Day stall. We are looking at picking a Year to coordinate gift buying on behalf of all our families, so families will no longer need to source and provide a gift. There will be a cost of $5 per child (paid via Qkr to cover the cost of the gift), with a gold coin still being collected on the day. The children really love the notion of ‘shopping’ for a gift. The gold coin donation goes towards our charities. So in fairness (I did say it), I nominate Year 1 next year to coordinate the gift buying for Mother’s Day. I pick Year 1 because that will be my Year (although given it’s for Mother’s Day it will actually be ‘Henry and other Year 1 Dads’ Year!! Surprise!). Any Dad in the school will be welcome to help out on the stall, it will just be Year 1 Dads that will source the gifts. There are lots of options, and we have plenty of time, but just so you know we are looking at making the process a little smoother.

Trivia Night Friday 15 November
How exciting! Not sure if we’ve had a Trivia Night before, certainly not in my time here, but I can’t wait. There’ll be lots of fun things, some of which are already planned, and others not so much! Book your table or come alone, we’re all friends.
Click here to see our cool flyer designed by the talented Laura Exarhos (Kindy parent). Any questions, please feel free to email Rowena Gribble (an ELC parent) at
htpspftrivia@gmail.com.
There will be alcohol for sale, so unfortunately (or not) this will be a parent’s only event.
New BBQ purchased
It’s important to have quality and effective equipment and resources for our volunteers. The P&F now have two quality BBQs from Heatlie. Really looking forward to the Christmas Concert and BBQ to try it out.
Fete
I know, next year! We’ve organised a Fete meeting for 6.30pm on Thursday 21 November at The Statesman. I’ve never been so that will be a real treat. We’ll have the lovely Lisa Bauer there to do a handover. All welcome, so please come along, share a glass of wine and let’s chat about the Fete.
As always, thanks so much for reading. Hope to see you soon.
Cath
P&F President
