The Cancer Council ACT recommends all Canberra primary schools and early childhood services adopt a combination of sensible sun protection behaviours when spending time outdoors - especially when UV levels are level 3 and above.
For this reason, sun protection behaviour like wearing a hat and applying sunscreen, is generally not required around the June and July winter period because daily UV levels drop and stay low (under 3). In line with these Cancer Council guidelines, the ‘Hats Off’ period at Holy Trinity commences 1 June and will run through until 31 July.
