May God be in your thoughts
Making them true, good and just.
May God be in your eyes
and open your eyes to see what is good in life.
May God be on your lips,
So that you may speak the truth in kindness;
that you may serve and encourage others.
May God be in your ears,
so that you may hear with a deep listening
the flow of water, and of creation and the dreaming.
May God be in your arms and hands
so that you may be of service and build up love.
May God be in your whole being- in your legs and feet
Enabling to walk the earth with respect. And be protected from walking away from what is true, and care;
So that you may walk ways of goodness and truth.
Amen
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Week 9 and another incredible week of learning and achievements! It was very special to share with all our Parish candidates the Sacrament of Confirmation over two nights this week. A particular thank you to Fr John and Emily Capper who so beautifully supported our families in this sacramental journey.
We thank once again the generous families in our Greek community who worked all day at a sausage sizzle stall at their festival on Sunday, donating proceeds to our P and F fundraising. It is also very special to see our gorgeous students who were very happy to work all day on the stall with their families to support our school. A very special thank you yet again, to John Laoukadelis, Laura and Leo Exharos, Anthea and Greg Diamond, and all the wonderful children!
It certainly was a very proud moment to attend with Lisa B-W and Lyn P-B the Rostrum semi final on Monday night at Charles Weston School, Coombs. Timothy Lutnant represented our school with a very informative and thought provoking speech about schooling meeting students' individual needs. It was also wonderful of him to speak so highly of Holy Trinity and the excellent learning experiences he has been engaged in. Congratulations Tim on reaching this outstanding effort at this stage of the competition and a big thank you to Lisa Binutti-Wilson for organising our participation in Rostrum for 2022.
As many of you know, students at Holy Trinity have been engaged in the and planting of a new community garden opposite our school on Theodore St. Currently our Year 6 sustainability group, led by Stephanie Leemhuis, have been helping with our section of this work. Please see below an invitation for any one in our community to help with a working bee this coming weekend.
As we come to the end of the term we farewell some students and their families as they venture to new places in Canberra, interstate or overseas. A big thank you and the best of luck to the following students and their beautiful families:
- Chase Hogan (Year 2) and also Josh, his father who has been on our School Board this year
- Miles Burke (Year 6)
- Miguel Jorquera Santamaria (Year 1)
Congratulations to the Doherty family (Ethan, Kindergarten) on the arrival of their newest family member, Connor! Such lovely news!
Finally, as this is the last newsletter of the term (Inspiring Connections Edition will be Week 10), I wish to thank you all again for a wonderful term together. I am sure you look forward to viewing your child/ren's reports, which will be available to access on the parent portal of Compass on Wednesday afternoon. (I will send a notification of this access). This is also the last newsletter I will write in until Term 4, as I am taking some long service leave next term. My husband and I will be walking the St James Way Camino over 5 weeks and then having a relax in Portugal.
As a result of this leave, the following staff changes will be happening in Term 3:
- Janice McDevitt will be sharing the Coordinator role, and we welcome Anne Hitchings in KR on Wednesdays, whilst Janice is released for this role.
- Lisa Binutti-Wilson will also be Coordinator for the term and will be working on Fridays at school for this release time.
- Due to Simon Bugden's resignation, Emma D'Ambrosio will be working each Friday in 5G with Rachael McCann for the remainder of the year.
- Brendon Pye will be Assistant Principal for the term, and Stephanie Leemhuis will be working an extra day in 6R (Wednesday-Friday).
- Katie Smith will be School Principal for the term.
I would like to sincerely thank and acknowledge in particular, Katie and Brendon - I have the utmost trust and respect for them both and am privileged to be able to take this leave, because of them, and the whole staff support.
I look forward to seeing many of you next Wednesday night at our P and F re- connection gathering in the library ( see RSVP link below).
Have a wonderful weekend (stay warm!) and a peace-filled week ahead with your beautiful families. Please do not hesitate to reach out for anything at all and continue to stay safe.
