Dear Friends,
The prayer above was shared with us at 5 Green's Assembly on Monday. 5 Green also shared some great learning in their current UOI as follows:
In our current Unit we have been inquiring into how a united commitment can lead to a sustainable future. To commence our unit we explored the documentary 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals and many burning questions came out of this learning. These questions included:
- What do we want 2040 to look like?
- What are the current global issues that are barriers to this vision?
- What is a sustainable future?
- What does sustainable mean? What lenses can we look at the term through?
- What action is already being taken on an international, national and local level that could contribute to achieving our vision?
- What action can we take to contribute to achieving our vision?
We used these questions to guide our journey through the unit. This journey included gathering data to inform well-considered action to help achieve global goals. We took action by collecting litter from around Curtin. During these walks we collected 1,572 pieces of litter which included 608 pieces from our school and 964 from our community. You can see below maps of the litter levels in our school and in our community that we created using the data collected during our litter walks. We have used this data to develop ideas to take action and help solve the problem. We look forward to presenting these ideas to our local government, school leadership and community. Please keep an eye on future newsletters to see some of our initiatives come to life!
P and F Working Bee
The weather held out for us last Friday as we worked on the school grounds just in time before the winter season. Thank you to those parents and kids who were able to volunteer their time and help mulch and tidy up both our school and the ELC. We are also grateful to those parents who were able to bring wheelbarrows, tools and pressure hoses and those who provded refreshments and well deserved sausages!.
Next week we will begin celebrating and reflecting on Holy Week and it's great significance for us as Catholics. We will begin in the Hall on Monday afternoon with Palm Sunday and then on Tuesday will move from the hall to the Church, as Jesus journeyed form the last Supper to Calvary. Thursday we will finish Term 1 in the morning with an Easter celebration assembly, followed after lunch with our Cross Country Carnival (weather permitting). If it is raining next Thursday, we will postpone Cross Country until Friday of Week 1 Term 2, 28th of April.
Prime Energy Drinks Concern
We have become aware that some students are consuming ‘Prime Energy Drinks’. Like all drinks containing stimulants such as Red bull or Mother, children’s health can be seriously harmed if consumed. We are aware that some versions do not contain stimulants, however, our school does not allow energy drinks of any kind. If students bring them to school we may ask parents to collect them from the front office. Thank you for your understanding with this.

Next week we will be publishing our First "Inspiring Connections" edition for 2023, showcasing all the incredible learning at Holy Trinity from the ELC-6 and specialists subjects. Therefore, this is our last newsletter for this term. In the holidays and the first week of Term 2, I will be travelling with some other Principals in our Archdiocese to Jordan and the Holy Land in Israel. This is a trip I have been hoping to experience since 2019, and I look forward to sharing with you all on my return, the visits to incredible biblical sites and the learning I will experience about our faith .
Wishing you all a happy and holy Easter and a wonderful break with your loved ones. Thank you for all you do for each other and for our special Holy Trinity community.
