Dear Families and Carers,
We've had another wonderful week of teaching and learning in this short week. With many excursions adding to the experiences in our Units of Inquiry. Year 2 visited MOAD, Mount Ainslie and Parliament House strenghtening their understanding of significant places. As part of the How We Express Ourselves inquiry, Year 1 attended the Tuggeranong Library. They are inquiring into different ways of storytelling and had an opportunity to share stories with the Library Storytelling Dogs. Year 6 are attending MOAD tomorrow, visiting the Behind the Lines exhibition. They will be considering how different authors and illustrators create their images and use quality evidence to create an imapct through their art. We are very fortunate to be able to attend a wide range of places in Canberra that enhance our learning experiences.
Students vs Teachers
Year 6 have been focusing on specific skills development over the past term in PE lessons, as part of their development and to showcase their skills, they have challenged the staff to games during lunch time. So far we have played touch football, basketball and yesterday we had a soccer game. The games are always exciting for the whole school community, with many students cheering and encouraging both the Year 6 team and the teachers. Yesterday saw the students run away with a victory! Their skills and ability to dribble and score goals was too much for the teachers! Well done Year 6!
Celebrations
We are celebrating the birth of 2 new babies in the Holy Trinity Family. Ben Davis (4 Green) and his wife Sylvia welcomed a gorgeous baby girl Gabriella last week, and Caitlin Waslin (2Red) and her husband Brett welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Louie Michael. We hope they are both enjoying this precious time together as a new family.
Rostrum Public Speaking Competition
The Rostrum Primary Schools competition is a public speaking competition for all ACT and surrounding NSW schools. The students from Years 3-6 listened to nine students present a rostrum speech on set topics ranging from a new Olympic sport to Thinking Big. All competitors engaged the audience through effective use of voice, gestures, and eye contact. Congratulations to Romeo (5G) who will represent Holy Trinity at the Quarter Finals. Congratulations also to Pia (6R) who is our runner up. Thank you to our two judges, Mr O’Rourke (PYP Coordinator) and Mr Montesin (ELC Director) who had the difficult decision to choose our winner. The Quarter Finals will be held in June and we wish Romeo the best of luck!

Child Safety
Did you know that Catholic Education and our school has a Child Safe Policy which outlines our approach to child safety? This can be accessed on the Catholic Education Safeguarding Page. We encourage you to visit this page and review the policy. As part of our approach to child safety Emily Capper is our nominated Child Safety Advocate who works closely with our school regarding our approach and response to child safety matters. This involves pro active strategies to safeguard our students as well as responding to areas of concerns. Child safety encompasses many parts of a schools operation such as day to day activities, school events and school camps. We encourage you to contact us should you like to discuss this further.
