During Parent Partnership meetings parents and teachers had the opportunity to share their own hopes and goals for their child - I urge families who have not yet had the opportunity to participate in a parent partnership meeting with your child's teacher to make contact with them as soon as possible. Through our teaching and learning platform, TODDLE, parents will also be able to access each year group's curriculum overview for the first Unit of Inquiry. Parents/Carers will also have opportunity to engage in a PYP Information night on the 25th of March.
Thanks to those in our community who attended our first Community Council meeting for 2025 on Tuesday night. Our meeting focussed on setting up calendar dates of events for this year and acknowledging that our main focus for this term is the fete. In Week 9, our next Community council meeting will unpack the various roles and functions of the council, to assist parents who may wish to be involved, more of an understanding about how they can do this. We will then have our Community Council AGM early Term 2. In the following weeks, there will also be correspondence from the Community Council around what current roles need some immediate help- in particular we are asking families for donations of emergency meals, and we are also needing a coordinator for this. Please contact me via email (see end of this article for the address), if you would like to know more bout this role.
Staff have noticed a few safety concerns with drop off and pick up at school over the last few weeks. I encourage you please to be mindful of the following reminders to ensure we are able to keep all our children safe:
- Pick up (other than Kids Biz, walkers and bike riders) is in the car park area. Children are fully supervised there- other pick up arrangements on the ring road or on the streets surrounding Holy Trinity is not a safe pick up area. Parents are asked to park and come down to pick up from the supervised area.
- Please us the pathways to walk to parked cars once you collect your child, especially on Theodore st- some children are walking through the scrub area up and down, which is not a safe thoroughfare.
- Dogs and pets, other than our school therapy dog, Maggie, are not permitted on school grounds, especially at pick up and drop off when there is many children on site.
- Supervised duty in the morning begins at 8:30am. Parents are invited to access our before school care program with KidsBiz- children should not be sitting outside from 8am unsupervised.

Opening Mass
Last Friday we gathered as a school community to celebrate the beginning of the 2025 school year. We came together, asking God to bless our school community as we began another year growing in faith, hope and love.
Our school’s spiritual theme for this year is 'Pilgrams of Hope. Pope Francis has asked us to celebrate this year with a deep faith, lively hope and active charity. This means he wants each one of us to celebrate this year by trusting in God, looking forward with hope, and showing love to others through kind and caring actions
We also welcomed our Year 6 families, as our Year 6 leaders received their leadership badges. We asked God’s blessing on our new school leaders, praying that they will lead us with strong, empathetic, generous, and loving hearts.
Thank you Father James for leading our school in a beautiful Mass and to our Year 6 teachers for their on going support and guidance of our Year 6 leaders for 2024.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Thank you to our Year 3 parents who attended the Reconciliation Parent Information Night last week. It was a great information session and we look forward to the Home Groups starting soon. Parent Sacramental Learning Opportunity
A reminder to our parents of students in Year 3 or above who are making their First Reconciliation this year, that there is an opportunity, next Tuesday night at 6pm, to learn more about the Sacrament that your child will be receiving this year. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the two sacraments of healing, and therefore it is helpful if there is a good grounding and understanding of the sacrament. Looking for a new home...

Stay and Play
Stay and Play will start again in Week 5 of this term (5 March 2025), to allow our new ELC children to settle in to their new year. We look forward to welcoming pre-preschoolers, toddlers and babies with their parent or carers for this community playgroup.

The countdown to our Holy Trinity 2025 Fete is on!!
Raffle
The Holy Trinity raffle for 2025 went live on Monday this week! There are some incredible prizes to be won to the value of $22,250, including:
- Interior home repaint - $12,500
- Luxury Escapes voucher - $4,500
- Bannisters Mollymook Voucher - $2000
- Private tasting event at Prohibition Curtin - $800
- Weekend with a BMW and winery lunch for 2-4 people - $800
- EightySix South restaurant voucher - $600
- Hotel Realm accommodation + breakfast, Hayman Partners Monopoly Boardgame & Prohibition voucher – Total value $550

This year the raffle is online, and each class has been assigned a unique tracking code that give you access to purchase tickets electronically. The class who sells the most raffle tickets will receive a special lunch treat the week following the fete!
The money raised will go to the refurbishment and renovation of the two play equipment spaces used by the school and members of the local community on weekends.

The Fete Committee has assigned stalls to grades this year as follows:

We are asking for volunteers to coordinate each stall on behalf of the grade. Given the short time we have before the fete, it would be really great if we could please have nominations for this quickly. Parents can absolutely be a stall coordinator with another parent – it’s a great way to meet people in our school community and socialise. Please send your nominations to:

Each child will receive a hard copy receipt for their wristband on Friday 21 March. This receipt must be brought to the Fete on Saturday 22 March and exchanged for a wristband at the Durkin Amusements Ticket Box. Please note, if your child is unable to collect the receipt on Friday 21 March, they can pick this up from the Information Stall on the day of the fete.

Showbags
Be the first to get your fete showbags!
We will have showbags for sale at the fete again this year, but if you get in quick on QKR you can be guaranteed to get the bag you want, for less!
You can choose from a range of novelty and confectionary bags including our favourite dog Bluey, our favourite cat Pusheen, or our other favourite cat Hello Kitty. Ultimate fidgets, or some Squishy things, for those that like to - well fidget! There is BBZ body for those who want all the skin care goods, or an NRL bag for some footy action. Otherwise, you can find something sweet with a range of confectionary bags too, like Jelly Belly beans and Chuppa Chups!
Get in quick and order yours before they sell out, as there is only a limited number of each bag. They are available for pre-sale before the fete, with novelty bags for $25 (RRP $35) and confectionary bags for just $10. Order yours now via QKR!
Volunteers
We are also seeking volunteers to assist with the set up and pack down of the Fete. The more volunteers we have for this – the easier it is on everyone. This will include setting up of marquees, tables and chairs at different points around the school, and then the return of the same items to school hall. Please send your willingness to help out to:
Chocolate Wheel
We are also requesting donations for the Chocolate Wheel. Donations can include gift vouchers (suggested value of $100, however we would happily accept vouchers of other values that can be put in a hamper with other donated items) and other items that would usually be given as a gift. Lastly, a reminder that we will be seeking donations of the following items in the coming weeks. Please feel free to start that book clear out you have been planning! Donations we will be seeking are:
- Marquees (to be used on Fete day only and returned)

- Plants – any variety
- Tombola (glass jars with goodies such as treats, little toys, fidgets and other miniature stuff that kids generally like.

- Library lessons are once a week. Please take note of your child or children’s library day and send them in with a library bag and books to return.

- The library is open every day during the 2nd half of lunch - If the library crocodile is out, we are open.
Please remind your children to come along as it is a great place to read, sit, draw, talk quietly or play a game. - Each year, I look for parent volunteers to act as “Book Coverers”. If you have a spare hour or two, I will send home a bag of 10 books, per volunteer, per term. It’s not a hard job and I try to match the books to your family. If you feel up to the challenge, please email me at kate.mertz@cg.catholic.edu.au or send a note via your child. Get in quick as it’s a highly sort after position and the contact is the best!
On another note..
Term 1, Book Club Catalogues were sent home last Friday.
Every order will earn resources and books for our school.
All orders need to be submitted through the Scholastic LOOP online platform which is also explained to you on the last page of the catalogue. The LOOP app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
Please submit any orders by Friday 28th February (Friday, Week 4). We got an extension on the due date as the catalogues were delivered to another school in our street and resided there for a week.
Online orders are sent to Scholastic every Friday (as they arrive) and books are be delivered to the school and handed out to the children as they arrive. It’s a staggered process as we get so many books.

FUTSAL NEWS- Coaches wanted!
We are entering teams in the ACT School Futsal Titles. The teams will be Year 3/4 Boys and Year 3/4 Girls and Year 5/6 Girls and 5/6 Boys. We will require the support of parents to coach the teams on the day to ensure the smooth running of our teams. Once we have established coaches we will invite students to nominate their interest in playing in this day. The competition dates are 5/6 Boys and Girls April 3 and 3/4 Boys & Girls April 7

Congratulations Milla!
Milla competed in the NSW OZtag Junior State Cup in Sydney, representing the ACT
Cougars U10 girls team. The girls played extremely well winning five of their six games,
in very hot and humid conditions, making it all the way to the semi finals.
Unfortunately they lost the game in the last five minutes with a well deserved try to the
opposition.
Congratulations to students celebrating their birthday this week: Samuel G, Isabella W, Harvey D, Angel A, Bridget G, Madeleine W, Eleanor S and Harry E. Wishing you all a fabulous birthday.
