Welcome from our School Board Chair
Dear Friends,
Given that this will be my last contribution to the school newsletter this year, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge and thank everyone who contributed to the learning and success of our children in our school during 2019.
To the staff at Holy Trinity: thank you for the care, kindness and support you have given to our children. They have been enriched by your guidance and leadership in their learning and spiritual journey and their personal development. Thank you also for your hard work in ensuring that Holy Trinity is caring, safe and respectful community for all members of our community.
To the parents who have volunteered and contributed to Holy Trinity in so many different ways: thank you, your work is invaluable. As a parent, and in my role with the school board, I hear of the wonderful generosity and support of so many parents, all working to the betterment and progress of our school community.
ELC and Kindergarten Orientations
It was terrific to see all the new and continuing students, and so many parents, at the ELC and Kindergarten orientations last week. The mornings were filled with much excitement, nerves and even a few tears – but by the end of the programs there were smiling students and happy parents and staff. Thank you to all involved in making these orientation programs so successful.
Parking
At the Kindergarten Orientation, I spoke to several parents and the issue of car parking was raised with me.
For those of you who don’t know, there are plans underway to implement a redevelopment of the car park and a new drop off system for 2020. The changes to the drop off will see students being dropped off slightly closer to the school building (inside the current fence line). This should create a smoother drop off and easier parking.
In the interim, could I please remind all parents to not park in the drop off zone, particularly during morning drop off and afternoon pick up.
It seems very early to be saying so - but wishing you all much happiness for your Christmas break.

Holy Trinity School and ELC Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) working group is reconvening and are looking for interested teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, students and community members to join our team.
A RAP is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation. The working group establishes RAP Actions for our school community moving into a new year.
The Holy Trinity vision for reconciliation is:
Our vision for reconciliation begins with our acknowledgement of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the original owners and custodians of Australia, and our recognition that their culture and heritages shapes the cultural heritage of all Australians. Our commitment mirrors our values of: - upholding the equality, dignity and worth of each person - nurturing personal growth, self esteem, resilience and wellbeing - valuing diversity through empathy understanding and the appreciation of others - building strong partnerships, inclusive of all in our community - strengthening global perspectives and active stewardship - maintaining mutual respect in relationships, promoting peace and justice. Our vision is that of a Nation that acknowledges and celebrates the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original custodians of this land. This is an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other Australian peoples have shared understanding and mutual respect of each others cultures and enjoy equal opportunities for participation in our community.
Some of our current and past RAP Actions include recognising and celebrating National Days of Significance, developing an understanding of Acknowledgement of Country, Visible respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures – plus more.
If you are interested in sitting on this working committee either in a working or consultative role, please email Cushla Sheehan cushla.sheehan@cg.catholic.edu.au
HAVE YOU BOOKED YOUR TABLE?
Trivia Night Friday 15 November
How exciting! Not sure if we’ve had a Trivia Night before, certainly not in my time here, but I can’t wait. There’ll be lots of fun things, some of which are already planned, and others not so much! Book your table or come alone, we’re all friends.
There will be alcohol for sale, so unfortunately (or not) this will be a parent’s only event.
