God of hope, who brought love into this world,
be the love that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought peace into this world,
be the peace that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought joy into this world,
be the joy that dwells between us.
God of hope, the rock we stand upon,
be the centre, the focus of our lives
always, and particularly this Advent time.
Amen.
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Week 7, where we began on Monday with our first Advent Liturgy, presented by 1 Green and Mrs White. It is always pertinent to begin Advent with the concept of HOPE, as we prepare for the coming of Jesus. Congratulations to Holly Shaw (4 Red teacher) on the birth of her beautiful baby girl Kaia, who couldn’t wait 40 weeks to arrive!

Teachers as Learners: Embracing Programme Development Plans
At Holy Trinity, our ongoing pursuit of growth and improvement is deeply embedded in our core values and mission. This year, the steadfast commitment of our educators to professional development and student success has truly reflected our school's ethos. Working together with parents and the broader Holy Trinity community, we are dedicated to delivering an exceptional educational experience that nurtures holistic development, in harmony with our vision of fostering inspiring connections with God, ourselves, our learning, and the world around us.
Our Programme Development Plan (PDP) teams, which include all Holy Trinity Teaching Staff, have reached significant milestones. Through a thorough process of self-study, the teams identified areas for professional improvement focusing on student learning, analysed current data, and set ambitious targets. In the spirit of collaboration, they developed and implemented strategies to achieve these objectives, consistently reflecting on the outcomes. This journey culminated in a collective celebration and sharing of progress with our entire teaching community on Monday, 13th November.
These initiatives and presentations have deepened our collective understanding of concept-based inquiry and the PYP Approaches to Learning, and have enhanced our framework for social-emotional learning. They have also led to innovative changes in our assessment strategies. This holistic process ensures that our educational offerings are both intellectually engaging and emotionally supportive, truly mirroring the inspiring connections at the heart of our school's philosophy.
The collegiality and mutual support evident throughout this process have reinforced our belief that our shared expertise is crucial in achieving outstanding educational outcomes. The event last Monday was more than an acknowledgment of this year's achievements; it signified a recommitment to our ongoing path of continuous improvement. It honoured the diligent and innovative efforts of our educators, whose work is essential to the lifeblood of our school. As we look ahead to 2024, our dedication to professional growth and collaborative excellence is unwavering. We are resolute in our journey to provide an education that not only exemplifies academic distinction but also fosters the values and relationships that shape our students into empathetic, informed global citizens.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Monday Week 8 will mark the start of our annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Collections will be open for the next two weeks. Each classroom has a basket for the items to be placed in. We thank you for your generosity at this time.

Early Childhood Australia's Statement on Play
The ECA's Statement on Play reflects the commitment to protect and promote the right of every child in Australia to play. The Statement draws on robust evidence from diverse disciplines on the essential nature of play and its impact on every child's wellbeing, learning and development. This includes the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, on the child's right to play.
Each week the Newsletter will contain one of the 6 principles to promote and protect play for parents and carers.
PRINCIPLE FOUR
Through play, children develop a sense of self and the emotional and social competence to participate in relationships.
What steps can we take at home?
• Join your child in pretend or imaginative play, find your ‘inner child’ and use your imagination to build connections with the child.
• Share information on cultural practices, festivities and celebrations with other families and the learning setting.
• During celebrations, milestones and community events, make space for children’s participation and playful interactions with peers and other members of the community.
Stay and Play
Stay and Play is a playgroup for pre-preschoolers and their carer each Wednesday in school term 9am-10am in the ELC Adventure Garden (weather permitting). All families and the broader community are welcome to attend.

Welcome to Week 7,
For the past three weeks the Year 4 classes have been unpacking their UOI – How We Express Ourlselves. The children were divided up into groups of three and given a popular children’s picture book to work with. Their task was to read the book, research the author and main charcter, then use their creativity and acting skills to create an interview situation. Six questions were to be asked in total with a three minute time frame.
Each group had three roles to dramatise – the interviewer, to tie it all together and ask relevant questions, the main character from the book and the author of the book. The main character and author had to answer questions focusing on clear and thoughtful answers, entertainment, eye contact and voice projection.
The final result was impressive, costumes brilliant and some kids are absolute naturals at acting. We laughed, giggled, loved watching our peers, revisited poular childrens’s literature and most importantly had big fun.

Last but not least…
Don’t forget that all Holy Trinity Library books are due back by the end of week – if you see a barcode send it back.
If you get an overdue noitce…. 1. Send the overdue book back to HT ASAP.
2. Type out the name of the book to find an image as a prompt.
3. Send your child into the library to look on the shelves or in their classroom. 4. Send me email and I will check the shelves – kate.mertz@cg.catholic.edu.au
5. Pay for the outstanding book so that we can repurchase the book and clear your child’s name.
Happy Days,
Kate M
