Dear families and carers,
a
This week we celebrated the Feast of the Transfiguration and the Feast of Saint Mary MacKillop. St Mary MacKillop's impact on Australian education was remarkable. She was a trailblazer and a leader who passionately advocated for the education of underprivileged children and children in remote areas. For these children and their families, Mary opened a door of hope into the future. Mary MacKillop's example calls us to live out our Christian faith authentically. Her witness challenges us to embrace humility, love, and compassion in our relationships with others. One way we embrace this challenge at Holy Trinity is in building our relationship with Fred Ward Gardens.
Christian Outreach - Fred Ward Gardens
Continuing on from the marvellous initiative of a group of Year 6 students last year, we have strengthened our connection with Fred Ward Gardens this year.
Our plan is to have as many students as possible visit Fred Ward Gardens during the year to share their learning, gain insight from the residents about life in the ‘olden days’ and forge new friendships.
As part of their Who We Are Unit, Year 5 students spoke to residents about what they valued. They were amazed at the variety of responses as well as some great feats of memory - one resident sang us her old school song word for word. She was 95 years old!
a4 Green shared a dance and songs they had prepared for their class assembly, followed by a chat with residents. It was very difficult to get some of the students to leave as they enjoyed the visit so much.
All Year 1 students have visited at least once where they have read books, shared stories, art works and prayers, and had engaging discussions with the residents. It was always a great joy to see the delight on the faces of the residents as the Year 1 students entered the room, and watch the students skip all the way back to school after each visit.

Our connection with Fred Ward Gardens has also seen residents attend our Anzac Day Commemoration Service and our Reconciliation Week Prayer Celebration. They treasure every connection we can make with them and our students cherish the time they spend with the residents.
The choir has entertained the residents with the songs they have been learning. On their last visit the residents were celebrating Christmas in July so the choir added a few carols into their performance.
100 Days of Kindergarten
a
Last Friday saw a large number of elderly people attending school for the day as our Kindergarten learners and their teachers dressed as 100 year olds. It was a celebration of attending school for 100 days, being 100 days smarter and the learners explored all things 100 on the day. We enjoyed a parade of the oldies at morning assembly and the efforts in dressing up were commendable. Fred Ward Gardens may have wondered where their pearls and walking aids had disappeared to!
4 Red Assembly
a
With confidence and dramatic flair 4 Red led assembly last Friday sharing their Where We are in Place and Time inquiry. The audience were captivated through short plays focused on sharing the story of the First Fleet, letters from the First Fleet, an introduction to Orienteering, artisic Australian landscapes and a performance of an African wlecome song.

Sports News

Ms Krystal Coker (3Red) was in Coffs Harbour representing an Australian Invitational team over the past few days. Australia won the competition and Krystal was awarded the Players Player award for the most consistent and best player of the tournament! How lucky are we to have Krystal leading the way for our students at Holy Trinity.
